Orginal Post: Pim1: I went to see UFC 70 last week & was looking forward to see aloskie fight against a former world jujitsu champion, thinking that it could go to the floor we would have a good ground fight for the fans, because iam getting pretty bored with the sprawl & brawl fighters, when a fight like this happens it just looks like bad boxing & you think if a good boxer like lennox lewis knew how to sprawl then he would knock them out, only if it doesnt go to the floor that is. (like this fight).
p.s
I hate the fans that boo when the fight is on the floor, we had a guy next to us shout out "ref stand them up" then the fighter arm barred his opponent like 2 seconds later, i felt like saying fuck off & watch boxing.

I didnt think that fight was as bad as it was made out. I enjoyed it although the pitbull definitely was hesitant to finish...but he did have a lot to lose, more than most people care to remember. This is the problem with UFC right now, the business values spectacle over sport. How long till we get crazy entrances, diva girls and fighters grabbing the mic to address the audience and halfway through their arch-nemesis runs out from backstage with Joe Rogan getting slammed as he trys to part them?
If it had gone to ground I think Arlovski would have lost to submission though and Lennox would be just like another Tim Silvia IMO.
I can understand if you get bored with certain types of fight but I love it when two guys are matched well, doesnt matter what level they are at its all about the matchup and the chess game. I hate it when you have one totally dominant, skilled guy against a regular joe. Now thats boring to me...not most rgular fans though I admit.>

I can't believe that you compared Lennox Lewis to Tim Silvia. IMO, that's pretty absurd. Why and How do you believe they are similar?>

I have to admit, when I first started to watch UFC/Pride/MMA fights, I was only watching for blood, knockouts and strikes. Now, I actually prefer to watch two skilled grapplers roll. One of the best fights I've seen in a while was Diego Sanchez and Nick Diaz. When they were reversing and escaping back and forth, I thought it was amazing.>

^^^^^^^What he said. Lennox and Tim? C'mon bro, put down that pipe :)
I must admit I was oneof the one booing during the Arlovski fight. But you have to admit, he didn't want to work at all. He came into that fight to try and win on points and that's what he did. He's still got a mental block where he hasn't gotten over the KO from Sylvia. He needs a good sports psychologist in my opinion.>

Hold on a sec! Look, I meant this...
...imagine Lennox given a year of wrestling. He would rely on his 'masterful jab' backed up by cross, hook and uppercut and then fall back on the wrestling to keep him where he is most effective. IMHO all you would see from him is jab.....jab, jab.......jab, cross........jab, jab, sprawl....uppercut........jab.....etc, etc.
He may be a way better striker than Silvia ever will be but in the cage he would not have the platform to perform that boxing rules allow....
....anyone want to buy this DVD player?....5 quid its yours!>
