What asag2 said + screwdrivers are cheaper and probably less likely to hurt yourself carrying one around.
edit: I should add that screwdrivers are probably more durable. You don't have to "sharpen" and there's less of a chance of it breaking in action.>

In England people who want to hurt people would prefer the knife over a screwdriver. The only people who carry screwdrivers are thieves. They use them primarily to prize open windows and if they are caught in the act they will stab you with it. This is why there are so many stabbing with screwdrivers in UK. There are a lot of car thieves and burglars in inner cities.>
