Orginal Post: DethStryque: My prediction for this fight is that this is ROY'S fight to win or lose.If he wins,I think he will utilize a more mobile, more conventionally defensive base.I think he will use his jab more.I think he will simply outbox TARVER,as nobody has the ability to beat ROY (IMO) if he is maximally focused.I'll know if this prediction is valid after the first 3 rounds,if Roy comes out firing and moving and is elusive and aggressive and well conditioned. One of the other things I would like to see Roy do is tie TARVER up.Roy's lightning reflexes seems to have slowed a hair, but he is still faster and quicker than both TARVE and JOHNSON,and should have no serious problem outboxing them if he comes maximally prepared and maximally focused...

ROY JONES by DECISION.

Post: timing:

I agree. If Roy keeps his hands up and keeps peppering Tarver he will win. I reckon the KO will come soon enough if he is patient.>

Post: Kyorgi:

I think Roy Jones will win this, lack of motivation was his problem in his last two fights. Remember how he put the smackdown on Montell Griffen the second time they fought? Bad news for Tarver.>

Post: timing:

I would love to RJJ win. Then he could perhaps retire as arguably the greatest of all time.>

Post: DethStryque:

I don't think that we can argue that he was the greatest of all time...especially with heads like BOB FOSTER to consider...because of his two spectacular knockout losses to people he shouldn't have lost to.No matter how we slice it--and i love me some RJJ--we can't justify his KNOCK OUT LOSSES.I just want to see him avenge his two losses decisively, and retire.I don't even see the need for him to fight HOPKINS again...it's a lose-lose proposition for him, like HOLYFIELD's fight with FOREMAN...if ROY wins, well heads will say:"HE'S SUPPOSED TO BEAT HOPKINS.HOPKINS IS LIGHTER AND OVER 40 YEARS OLD." if he loses, they'll say:"SEE,I TOLD YOU RJJ WASN'T ALL THAT..."

some peeps never learn.>

Word up,Kyorgi. The fight is on tonight, and I have adrenalin rushes like I'm about to fight instead of Roy.Again,I think that we will be able to see what the fight is gonna be like during the first 5 rounds. It would bei nteresting--and IMPORTANT,I think--for ROY to be the aggressor here while nuetralizing TARVER.I think TARVER'S whole game plan is to go in there and knock ROY out,or at the very least keep ROY mostly defensive,as nobody can keep pace with his lightinig offensives and nobody wants ROY dictating he pace of a fight.I think TARVER will press ROY out the gate and seek to increase the pressure as the rounds go on.I se him fighting asa boxer/puncher,but usingthe undeniable psychological advantage of having not only scored a KO against ROY earlier, but also having beaten another man who KO'ed ROY.The first 5 rounds will be a severe test for ROY,but if ROY is well conditioned, and uses his feet to keep him away from constantly staying on the ropes,if ROY seeks to get off first and nuetralize TARVER's offense by tying TARVER up and working TARVER's body...and most especially if ROY keeps up the jab, keeps his defense tight and uses footwork footwork footwork...ROY should take this figth.>
