Orginal Post: mrsmith: I have neglected my training for a couple of years and am trying to re-learn some of my early forms. There is a Siu Lum set called Lim (or Lym) Wan Kuen -- Continuous and Returning Fist -- that I cannot seem to piece back together. Can anyone help?

Sorry, mate, i can't. But, good luck with it. Glad to hear your getting back into things.:)>

MrSmith - you're question is pretty vague - what style of Kung Fu are you practicing??? I have learned two Gong Li Quan forms from two different styles - Long Fist and Eagle Claw. Both have the same elements, but are completely different. You need to be more specific with your inquiry in order to get the help you are seeking.>

I am referring to the Southern Siu Lum version. I remember enough to get started: Arms straight out in front, shoulder level, palms facing in.
Arms straight out to sides (leading with elbows) in knife hands, palms down.
Bring hands in even with shoulders, palms down, leaving elbows out.
Raise both hands, palms up, finger tips in, in high blocks.
Sweep both hands down in a circular motion next to your ears and lower them, palms up, finger tips ins, centered on the body into a twin low block position while bending slightly at the knees. This is the opening salutation. After that, it pretty much travels from horse stance to horse stance, moving mostly in straight lines. I actually remember the bulk of the elements, just not the order. It repeats the same motions a lot, but sometimes it's a backfist and sometimes it's a backhand and sometimes a closed fist.>

MrSmith - according to my Sifu, your style/form is Southern Shaolin, probably a derivative of Choy Li Fut or the precursor to an animal style like snake.
Just curious, but why have you not gone back to your previous Sifu??? Where exactly do you live???
In order to further help you, I would suggest you send a private message to Bloodybirds. If you have moved or your original teacher/school is no longer around, he will be able to further assist you as he knows just about every great Sifu/Master and their whereabouts within a given region.>

nbotary: I have moved away from my Sifu and he has no phone service at this time. Our school has, sadly, kind of fragmented in the past year or so. I appreciate everyone's attention to my problem. Please thank your Sifu for his help also. I have, since my last post, tracked down a sidai who knows the set. I have also found a book by Leo Fong which I will order and add to my reference library. Thanks again.>

No problem, glad to help. I still suggest that you send a private message to my Sifu (known on this forum as Bloodybirds) if you're still looking for a school/Sifu. If he can't help you find what you're looking for, he might be able to find you a good supplement or substitute. Just a suggestion...
By the way, welcome to the forum. :)>

I'll send him a message. Thanks for the welcome...I'm happy to be a part of this community.>

Mr smith, glad you found someone from Leo Fong. Boy, I have not heard his name in ages....he was/is a great master and rather eclectic but his skills in the 70s and 80s were fun to watch!!>

Sorry...I only found a book by Leo Fong. The student I found was a former student of my old Sifu. You're right though, he's one of my favorite classic Kung Fu artists!>
