Orginal Post: wuming: I was reading an article in kung fu tai chi magazine about a form in the system called Hung Ga and I was wondering if "Hung Ga" is another spelling for "Hung Gar" or if it is an entirely different system altogether. Does anybody have any light they could shed on this for me?
Post: Wilhelm von Wänkensteïn:
It's the same system. Pronunciation is cantonese and can vary differently depending on exactly which variant of the cantonese dialect is being spoken, or simply who's speaking it
Furthermore, if the Iron Wire form was being mentioned, it is most definitely Hung Ga(r). Iron Wire is one of the trademark high-level forms of Hung Gar.>

I've heard the spelling "Hung Ga" "Hung Gar" "Hyung Ga" "Hyuung Gar" and my favorite of odd spelling:
Hoong Ka.
Altough I think there's some northern style known as 'red fist' that uses extremely similar spelling, when it's not the chinese signs that is.. Red Fist I think it was called...
And when we're on the subject, I'd like to hijack this thread and ask:
I've heard that Tit Kiu Sam
(Iron Bridge Three, A monk from shaolin, if I dont remember wrong.. The person who gave\refined Hung Gar's internal training with Wong fei-hung)
Didnt Black Tiger have a internal form very much like the Tit Sin Kuen, that was rumoured to come from the same person...
Does anyone know anything about this? Black Tiger perhaps?>
