In the 2008 Olympics which will be held in Beijing China, Wushu will be neither an Olympic or demonstration sport. There will be Wushu competition during the Olympic Games, but it will not have the status of the 28 official sports. In other words, there will be a Wushu tournament alongside the Olympic Games.
I suppose it?s a step in the right direction. I?m a bit disappointed after all the hype that Wushu would be an ACTUAL Olympic event. But if I?m not mistaken this is how Tae Kwon Do started in the Olympics, so it?s just a matter of time until the IOC (International Olympic Committee) is handing out medals to Wushu athletes.

I haven't even heard that wushu was going to be part of the games. I did read that Taiji would be though.>

But I wonder if it is going to be one of the 28 sports, or just a tag-along tournament like Wushu.>
