Orginal Post: WordRider: Swords are have been made famous by many swordsmen past and present. Which?
Post: bamboo:
Musashi made a broken wooden oar famous and (according to legend) worked the mind of his many opponents.
He showed it was the man, not the steel that made the difference.
Yagyu Munenori showed us in his shinkage ryu how the opponents sword is often the deadliest, against the sattacker that is.

I'm with bamboo on this one...the sword is pretty useless (well, yes, it would of course be dangerous still, but, probably just as much, if not more to its bearer if they had no clue how to use it) if you don't know how to use it, well, maybe useless isn't quite the right word:).
The weapon, like the martial art, is only as effective as the person using it.>
Post: Stazzy:
This has to be the dumbest poll I've seen in years. I'm surprised bamboo and Gazelle actually bothered responding to this crap. Each of those three swords serves a different purpose and requires a different style of fighter to wield. Asking which sword is the grandest of them all is like asking which food tastes the best.>
Post: Gazelle:
I bothered because i hadn't been on here for a while, and this was the first 'martial art' thread that i clicked on, and having withdraw symptomes from speaking of it, or hearing of it (which, is generally the case for me :)) , or more prominently, practicing it (I even did a 'tornado' kick in one of the maths corridors yesterday! My side wasn't too pleased by it mind :(, and in al fairness there was just two friends there, one of which was 2nd Dan tae kwondo, and wanted to check what i meant by a 'tornado' kick because i seemed to be rather inable to explain even though it's effectively just a crescent kick, after which you just continue the moment round into a jumping crescent kick, and then you can keep repeating the last move...anyway gone way off here), also, this was actually one of the few martial art things that i might be able to post something of relevence, other than a question :), and therefore just by a long shot maybe help someone out (probably not, of course). It was an easy decision to post a comment.
And, i'll leave bamboo to tell you his reasons, if he so chooses, but, i'm thinking something along the line of he's a nice guy who wanted to help out.>

I think MY sword is the grandest of them all...
However, Peter North has a pretty impresive sword. It's seen thousands of victims...>
Post: Gazelle:
NB, your sword lives in the world of sci-fi...imagination can make it as grand as it wants.>
Post: bamboo:
I didn't vote Stazzy, but thanks for assuming.
I thought the question could provoke some decent conversation.>
Post: dscott:
Gazelle: You're definitely not as innocent and unassuming as I thought you were. You got NB pretty good with that one.>
Post: Gazelle:
Why, thank you...i think :)
Lets just say i've gotten a little more confident :), and, after being on this forum for however long, what would you expect?>
Post: bamboo:
No more sword discussion?>
