Adventage is becouse it make you more effective in combat and disadvantage is that you have to use it when you take it out.
Moust people take some weapon just to scarry anemy and they are not ready to use it so in the end instead that weapon make their hand more powerfull they cant use in fight that hand with weapon.>

I meant what are the advantages and disadvantages to ceratain weapons like what advantages does pepper spray have over knuckle dusters or what disadvantages does a kubaton have.>

I think that you cant look at it in that way, becouse whats advantage or disadvantage depende on you and what you whant from weapon, not on weapon.>

I can only really comment on the weapons I've carried before.
The kubotan is a great little weapon, excellent as a punching weight and as a striking implement in itself. It can be used as a grappling aid, but I've never used it as such. It takes so much more training to make it effective that way; anybody can use it to their advantage for striking.
The knuckleduster is probably the best thing you can carry though, IMHO. When you're talking "bang for your buck" you can't get much better.
Both these weapons are light and easily concealable and while very damaging, don't cause the kind of injuries that are blatant weapon injuries, like a knife would. Plus, because of their small size their both easily disposed of after they've been used. They'll slip through the grill of a drain cover easily, and throw them into a rubbish bin and they're not easily found.
I have also carried collapsible nunchuks but quickly got rid of them. Even folded up, they were heavy, difficult to conceal and take a lot of training to use properly.
I've never used pepper or CS spray or anything like that. I've heard good things, but I'd be a bit nervous of spraying it in the face of somebody who had an abnormal reaction to it, like the cops have found on the UK. There's been a couple of deaths through their use of CS spray.>

Kubotan I like it I had (maybe still somewhere have) metal one with hidden small blade in it. I carried it for long time on my keys, but I never use it. Anyway, I realy liked it.
I have wooden tenouchi that I made myself. It have pointed ends. Ididnt pointed them too much, so you cant stab someone with it, but it will make more pain if you hit someone with end. Its great weapon.
I like manrikigusari too. Great weapon, but if you dont have lot of practice you will hurt more yourself than your opponent.
But all the time I have knife with myself. There is no weapon as good knife.
Advantages are that these weapons make you more effective in fight. Disadvantages, hm, I dont know any.>

A focused mind is the best weapon, it can't be taken away.>

I have often felt that escrima sticks or something similar would be one of the most effective weapons. It is versitile for striking and defence, and in the eyes of a lay person nothing more than a stick.
Its just not practical to carry around, but kept in your car, it would be perfect for emergencies.>

I agree that escrima sticks are little to long to carry them around, thats why I like more tanbo.>

Anybody know where I can find a good set of balanced throwing knives in Toronto? I'd be looking to purchase a quantity of 10 to 15 of them.>
