Post: Tease T Tickle:

rocks
sticks
cinderblocks
masonry
trash cans
hubcaps
broken bottles
Molotov Cocktails
Speeding traffic
walls
floors
low ceilings
railings
stairs
the 3rd rail of a train track

Anything that can be used to cause harm is a weapon, the list is actually infinite.
This is not a flame or me trolling, but Vlady, I still have yet to find a post by you that has actually caused a decent discussion, contained a point or asked a question. What exactly is it that you wish to accomplish with this thread?>

Post: setsu nin to:

I agree with Des that there is no point of making such list. Almoust anything can be used as weapon on street.>

Post: vladimir:

I meant the list to be a list of weapons carried a lot by gangs, not so much what could be used as a weapon.

I was trying to find common weapons people carry for a story I am writting.>

Post: nbotary:

What kind of book are you writing??? Are you taking anything you read and quoting us in it???

If my name or anything I've said appears in a book, I want credit and royalties!!!!>

Well, then maybe you should've asked about weapons carried by gangs. Also, I sincerely doubt many gangbangers use a lot of the weapons you mentioned. In fact, all of the gangstas I know use exclusively handguns, shotguns, sub-machine guns and knives of various designs. No tasers or stun guns, no bike chains, no baseball bats, no pepper spray and no kubatons.

Also, if you're "writting" a story, you might want to invest in spell check.>

[quote=vladimir Were you made fun of as a child, Tease?[/quote

Not really. From time to time somebody would pick on me. That's the reason I got expelled from the first grade, fourth grade, sixth grade and tenth grade, being forced to graduate from an "Alternative Education" center designed for delinquents.

But then, you wouldn't know anything about getting into trouble for violence, would you?>

Post: Dirty_Irishman:

Only weapons I've ever seen gangs carry were firearms and knives. Though MS-13, a very popular and dangerous El Salvadorian gang, is known for its use of machetes. Of course this is the gang armory in America I don't know about other countries. Also what time period?

Movie Recommendations
1980-2005 New Jack City, Menace II Society, and Baby Boy

1960-1979 The Warriors, Assault on Precinct 13 (the original)

1940-1959 The Outsiders is the only one that comes to mind

1900-1939 The Untouchables, Hoodlum, and Harlem Nights

Prior to 1900 Gangs of New York, Unforgiven, Tombstone>

Post: setsu nin to:

How popular is AK in US?>

Post: Dirty_Irishman:

Pretty popular with most of your big league gangs (Crips, Bloods, Latin Kings) and organized crime syndicates (Triads, Mafia, etc) in the major cities, LA, New York, Houston, Miami. Of course no one on the streets knows how to shoot , they just spray and pray most of the time.>

Post: Dirty_Irishman:

Just heard on the radio that bangers with AKs stormed a police station in New Orleans!>

How effective is a caribiner as a knuckle duster like weapon?

What's the most effective improvised knucke duster like weapon?>

Post: Tease T Tickle:

[quote=vladimir How effective is a caribiner as a knuckle duster like weapon?[/quote
Usually not very. While there are different sizes, most are too small for a decent-sized fist, so you can't wrap the metal around your hand properly. Furthermore, the shape of the caribiner doesn't fit the knuckles properly so any impact will result in damage to yourself. Proper knuckles dusters are just about the only way to go if you're being serious about it.

Quote:

In my experience, a stiff leather belt with a simple brass buckle works pretty well. A smallish chain, like a dog choker, can work as well, but you need to get a specific size for your fist or some system of tightening it easily. Stiff metal is too hard to manipulate, see the caribiner reasoning above, so if you need to improvise a duster, I'd suggest chains or non-metalic objects.>

Thanks, I appreciate the advice. I have a friend who just started carrying around a caribiner as a knuckle duster like weapon, so I was wondering how effective that was.>

Post: Dirty_Irishman:

My instructor's instructor, uses something similar, but its not a carabiner its a...well I can't remember the name, its a big metal oval basically. But he doesn't use it like brass knuckles he uses it for hammer fisting. Its very destructive. Also with a daisy chain on it it looks like a key ring so you can carry it anywhere.>

Post: Tease T Tickle:

I thought a daisy chain was when you lined up several people for sex.>

Post: Dirty_Irishman:

I can't even get my wife to have sex with me let alone several people. Its also a way electricians and such buddle extension cords. Its a kind of looping process that keeps it from tangling and it won't come undone without pulling a certain end. Very useful.>

Post: zefff:

From personal experience carabina's are crap. They flop about when you hit and press on your kunckle fronts. They are usually aluminium and so have no weight.

I used to carry one as a youth but found it not very good when I finally had to use it, after that I switched to a plastic kite handle after and found that to be great as it was more snug and giving but no KO's...not a patch on good brass knuckles.>

Post: Dirty_Irishman:

Yeah, but thing I'm talking about isn't actually a carabiner. Its made of steel, comes in a very large variety of sizes. It looks like an oval but the center has a little piece that unscrews so you can attach it to whatever. Do you know what I mean?

And the busted knuckles is why they hammer fist. They were busting through all kinds of things with it like that.>

Post: vladimir:

Here is an article I found on street weapons in Romania:

http://www.donrearic.com/romanian.html>

Post: rnc:

how about the old radio antenna torn straight from a parked car on the street. such are days gone by. i don't think too many cars have antennas any more, but in the old days, a car antenna made a great weapon. let us not forget the garbage can lid, but i suppose that is also obsolete, since most garbage cans are now made of plastic. i saw a few metal ones in the east village of nyc, so there are still a few left in new york anyway. i like a leather jacket. it works well against a knife, if you wrap it around your arm. or to catch and wrap over you assailants knife hand. (they don't teach that one in the dojo) i also like a good mag light. once when i was repossessing a car, i heard a jingling sound coming toward me in the dark. thinking it was a dog, i shone my mag light right at the direction of the jingling sound. i then heard a man scream and saw him fall to the floor, rolled up in a ball, begging me to take the light away. he turned out to be the owner of the vehicle. he had his keys on a chain, thus the jingling sound. the sudden blast of light from the mag light hitting him in the eyes, temporarily blinded him and he fell to the ground helpless. the mag light is also good for blocking, striking and applying restraining techniques and is perfectly legal to have in you car or on your person.>

Post: NathanRahl:

Umm, why does everyone here forget the way, it is all about simplicity. A simple cane of good solid wood is one of your best weapons, trust me. If your a skilled swordsman, you now have a perfectly legal, and harmless looking boken, and with it one can easily kill a man in one blow. Good old fashioned hook cane ;)>

NATHAN-

Please consider the last post date of the thread you are posting on and whether or not you are adding information that is useful.
Necroposting is frowned upon.

cheers,

Post: NathanRahl:

Sorry, I don't know what you mean by necroposting, the thread is not a dead one, and if I missed where someone else mentioned a cane then my bad. Your kinda a negative person huh?>

Post: bamboo:

Hi again Nathan,

I'm actually a very friendly person with a very positive outlook on life, but thanks for the judgement.

Necroposting is when you post on a thread that has not been posted on for more than year or so. The thread is dead because the original poster felt satisfied enough to no longer persue the conversation.

I'm sorry, is it supposed to bother me that you know a well known character from a book I have read, and if so, why? Seems kind of a silly reference for you to reference that. Are you over the age of 18? You strike me as a major control freak type. if your going to follow me from post to post, atleast have something contructive to say.>

Nathan,

How about you start fresh?
No one is out to get you, this is an internet forum, we enjoy debate and fact based conversation and tell eachother our backgrounds so we have a clue as to the credibility of the posters.

If your not comfortable with the culture of this site perhaps Bullshido.net or MartialArtsPlanet would be more to your liking.

Have a pleasant evening.

Thats kind of sad would you not say?

Plus, you said "bye" and "good night" how many times?

NathanRahl: You seemed a little defensive off the bat. All Bamboo said was that you brought up a dead thread and suggested that in the future, you might want to look at the thread date before posting. Then he suggests going to another website if you don't like the way you're being treated. What's wrong with that? If someone's "being mean" to you, leave.

Bamboo is probably the most respected, well mannered members of this forum, far from a 16 year old asshole kid trolling around.

Grow up.>

I lost my composure, really, was not aware of that, hmm.

What I think is really sad is some guy who hides behind a smile and uses that smile to throw out subtle barbs. I am sad, I think you need look in the mirror Bamboo. Most respected, not by me, and you can onylspeak for yoruself. You sould put an ignore feature on this sight, would be great.
Oh, and if bamboo here is so wonderful and easy to get along with, why continue to antagonize me? Leva eme alone, and I'll leave you alone.

Oh, and the censorship comment is because MR Bamboo erased a thread a posted because, likely, it inadvertantly cast him in a poor light. Now that's sad :( Leave me alone, and I'll levae you alone.

HOw much experience do you have in a martial art bamboo. If it's more then 10 years, I think it's sad, because you lost your compsure in less then two hours of me posting. HOw sad.>

Actually, no I did not.

There are very few things that will get your posts erased by me, and insulting myself is not one of them.

If you don't like it if someone challenges your posts then simply leave as that is a rather large part of discussion.

Send that info then, nd don't punk out on me. Oh, and we both know your not really laughing. Only time someone goes out of their way to say something like that is when the opposite is true. basically sport, I think though doth protest too much.

You really don't think I am serious, your dead wrong. I would kill you given half the oppurtunity. I don't fear death, dying, and the bigger they are the more there is for me to cut.
