Orginal Post: Hengest: Quit the classes lads (and ladette). It's all here:

http://wiki.ehow.com/Teach-Yourself-the-Basics-of-Karate

Post: zefff:

Take note of tip #2.>

Post: Hengest:

I like the account of karate "history".>

Post: opariser1001:

sweet no more monthly fees for me! byebye teacher! this is true karate!>

Post: Gazelle:

Yep, who needs classes, with one single lesson plan like that to put a smile on your face (or perhaps to reveal a tired expression). It'll make you a master in no time!

But, seriously, if anyone can edit it, you can have some real fun with this, and other things on that site, i'm not saying that you should, i'm just merely making the observation.>

Then what the hell was the point of posting it in the first place? I'm not going to write an article about physics and end it by saying that it is impossible for you to learn physics by my tutorial. That is just intellectual masturbation. And it's not even good masturbation at that. It's like you could only find the Sears catalogue or something....>

I wonder if that was a later edit by someone else who wanted to subtley point out the futility of the entire exercise.>

Post: samurai6string:

more than likely.....It's early here, and I really wanted to write that bit about intellectual masturbation... :)>

Post: Gazelle:

I take it you like that phrase then samuri. It has a slightly impressive ring to it, i have to admit.

It shows just how well i read the thing, i didn't even see that warning on it.

Sears catalogue?>

Post: samurai6string:

Gaz>  I am almost too embarrased to explain to you how that is relavent to the masturbation part. Let it suffice to say that Sears is a department store here in the U.S.>

Post: Gazelle:

Apparently you are too embarressed to. No worries, i'm sure it won't do me any harm not to know.>

Post: samurai6string:

s'alright, ask Nbotary. I'm sure he'd love to fill you in. oh, damn, I did it again. I'll just quit while I'm ahead. :)>

Post: bamboo:

Gazelle - The Sears Catalog is a product of the Sears and Roebuck department store. The store itself sells everything from clothing to houshold items to automotive accessories. Anyway, the catalog itself offered far more items than the store did. You could pick up the catalog, go to the store, order items from the catalog and either have them delivered or pick them up when they arrived. As for Bamboo's reference to the lingerie section... Well, that should pretty much be self explanatory. But just in case - think Victoria's Secret Catalog - only not as good...>

Post: Gazelle:

Quite alright, i got the picture just with the lingerie, but thank you for ensuring that the meaning was clear, and for explaining about the catalogue.

I was writing, and reading this with my father sitting right in front of me. He was wondering what the heck i was smiling about!>
