Post: nbotary:

OH MY GOD!!! Did you see any of the video section?!?!

"Okay, I want you to attack me with a straight punch to the chest. I'm going to do an outside block with my right forearm and slide it down to a wrist grab while stepping back with my right foot and grabbing your upper arm with my left hand and spin you down via arm bar into the floor. Then I want you to lay motionless (becuase you know thats what people do in a REAL fight) and I'm going to reach over and gouge your eyes before I unload a knife hand to the back of your neck, followed by a straight punch to the back of your neck. Then, I'm going to roll you over and step on your free hand while executing a wrist lock on your right hand at the same time I'm putting my knee in your back."

"When I'm done and I let go of your wrists and take my knee off your spine, I need you to lay there (becuase in a REAL fight you wouldn't try to get up - you would be motionless and close to unconciousness after I have unloaded my flurry of devastation upon you) becuase I need to do the same thing to another guy that I told to come in and rush me with the same pre-planned technique and I'm going to drop him on top of you."

"Okay, you got all that? Basically, you just throw a punch and let me do what I want and then I'm going to throw this other guy on top of you. Okay? Okay, let's pratcice this a couple of times and see how it looks on camera... "

Damn, I look cool! Man, Bruce Lee ain't got nothin' on me and my 'style of styles!'"

I'm signing up so I can get a Mc Black Belt from this Mc Dojo... !!!>

Isnt there a rule against having a last name that ryhmes with "douche"?>

Post: Hengest:

I think the subject of Christian Harfouche has come up before around these here parts. His methods do look decidedly suspect. Unfortnately, he is one of the most prolific contributors to mainstream magazines like Black Belt and the like, so his crap receives far more attention than many of the more serious and reliable systems out there...>

Post: setsu nin to:

I saw some of his work in Budo Int. its realy terrible. He put video tapes there from Chi Na, Tai karate, Shoryn-ryu Taijutsu...>

Post: goku600:

yo I dont think the guy is that whack, I havent seen any of his videos but I read an article about him in Budo Int. Oct/Nov I think it was, and it said the guy is a 10th dan blackbelt in TAI karate, 5th in TKD, 2 in Kenpo and blackbelt in Kung fu. The magazine has a couple of photos demostrating techniques and they seem pretty solid to me.>

1. Have you even heard of TAI karate before?
2. Do you know how long it takes to get a 10th dan in a reputable style? Hell, do you know how long it takes to get a 5th dan, let alone both?
3. Black belt in kung fu. Nuff said.
4. He's selling Shorite Ryu as if it's koryu, yet has no background in koryu arts.
5. Shorite Ryu is basically a grappling/CQB style, yet he has no background in grappling/CQB styles.
6. He calls himself "Grandmaster". Doesn't that ring alarm bells?
7. He sells black belt-by-DVD courses. Now that has to ring alarm bells.
8. He has really buggy eyes. Never trust people with buggy eyes.

As a great man once said (or was it a great TV series), question everything, the truth is out there.>

Post: graham1:

It seems that TAI karate is the 'brainchild' of David German. He claims a 10th dan in this system. The first I heard of David German was as a kempo stylist, so he's moved up a few carriages on the gravy train since then.

Dr Christian Harfouche? Crazy name, crazy guy! I'm not sure I'd completely trust someone with bags under his eyes bigger than mine.>

Well that may be true about whack karate but how about the tae kwon do belts and kempo? Im not defending the guy he sees a bit suspicious, but to tell you the truth I have seen worst Mcdojo instructors. And by the way you made a point with not trusting people with buggy eyes 8O>

Post: bamboo:

10th dan?

Please, that is in 99% of cases a rank given in honourarium after death.

Being published in budo int'l means sending in an article and getting it accepted, they do not generaly care or check ranks, they sell advertising.

And what associations were they with, pray tell? Notice he gives the association for the "whack karate" but not the TKD, kenpo or kung fu...
