Orginal Post: cassaruby: i am interested in kajukenbo and capoeira. there's some dojo's in my state WA, but i don't have money...i don't even like money. i wanna go talk to some dojo's and see if i can find an alternative way to join. i can work whatever (i don't have job) and i even know chinese massage (i'm not well practiced enough to be proffessional though i can do full body 2 hour massage). i'm gonna go in a month or two and ask em. there's over ten i can try. i don't have a car, heh i got rid of it awhile ago and i'm abandoning shoes, so that's alittle dedication showing i'll walk 4+ hours to seattle.
i was wondering your opinions on my chances, or some advice. it's a rich state so i'm thinking they like money...like the suburbs such as bellevue. anyways, i'm abit nervous but it'd be nice if you called me an idiot or that they might be interested or somethin'.
also, i'm going to hawaii (i'll try to get a boat ride or fly standby) within a year and i'll do the same thing there. thanks, sorry for strange post if your just thinkin' ???.

Explain your situation and be humble, play to the ego (it works wonders).
I have seen many a student accepted without cash because they were sincere. I went through a period years ago when I did the same - labour for training. They washed mats, swept out the dojo, kept the washrooms in order, etc, etc. I know of one student at a major dojo under a very well known shihan that spent everything he had to get to the dojo and simply camped out front until the head of the organizaton met him. He now lives in a back room and takes care of the dojo full time.
