1) The MCMAP system is an okay system, but not T3H D3ADLY as you think.
2) UFC/MMA is a sport, with sport based rules, so anyone can play as long as they play by the rules.
3) I was in the Corps and most Marines (95%) cannot fight for shit. The Marines are about shooting and blowing shit up, not punching and kicking people. MCMAP is designed to instill Warrior ethos, not create H2H gods.
4) You sound like a High School kid that just started watching the UFC on Spike. Go to sleep you have school in the morning. :D>

This question brought up a question of my own.
How would the Marine Corp feel if an active Marine competed? Would they care?>

Article 15 is Non-judicial punishment, just below the lowest Court Martial. It can be performed by a Marines Company Commander and above. It is basically a form of Administrative punishment that does not carry the weight or stigmatism of a Court Martial.
A MArine can be charged for getting hurt outside the performance of his duties. For instance, I had a buddy that got really badly sunburned at the beach, so much so he could not hump his shit in the field and they charged him. So, a Marine can fight and train NHB, but he better not get hurt, or at least suck it up until he can make it look like he did it on duty >

From what it sounds the poor lad believes that the mention of being a Marine will bring Respect and possibly fear.
Respect is first of all earned. Period.
In the ring or outside of it, Respect nonetheless is acquired by proving oneself in either combat (reliability) or conduct garnered by living a life worthy of imitation (respectability).
Which have you either done or plan to do?
If you are still a minor, simply set a life course applicable to your desires.
Then, in the ring or on the battlefield, you will cement a small place in the universe for something we can all strive for.

UFC and PRIDE fighters get paid to fight so it would be considered an outside job for which you would have to ask permission. I think from there it would all boil down to each CO to either let you or not let you fight.>

A buddy of mine got an article 15 after breaking his ankle playing football with some friends. Bushi is right, you could compete, but you better hope you don't get touched! Anyone on pride or ufc is most likely a former Marine. I know no one likes "ex-Marine" :)>
Post: JC1007:
Yeah, ex-Marine only applies to those who dishonored the Corps and were dishonorably discharged. ;)
On a side note, I asked my Chief about competing in MMA matches. He told me that I could compete but that if I received a visible injury (black eye, cut on the face, etc) that even if I was capable of working, he wouldn't let me. It would detract away from the professionalism of the agency. If on the other hand it happened during training or while working the streets, that would be different. He's the boss I guess. At least until I can find a way to start an uprising and throw him out of power....>

There is a consulting firm in Cuba that can help you with this.>

I do not want to stir anything here, but here is a opinion of mine. Just because you are a Marine does not make you tough.
I would say Marines are among the best conditioned as a whole though. I truly respect them as soldiers, but as a whole I dont underestimate anyones abilitys until they prove otherwise.
No matter what Armed forces you join your condition can be intirely up to YOU! I served in the Airforce for 8 years and power lifted with a few of the guys from the Airforce powerlifting team. I myself competed but was not on the team. One time in the GYM in Panama a Marine was there all cut up in his Hulk Hogan outfit grunting and groaning posing in the mirror. He was a big dude! I saw that he was about to do incline press and I asked him if I could join. Now I was 5'9" @170 with a heavy long sleeve sweat shirt and sweat pants. We warmed up and started doing reps. He went first with 225lb on the bar. Then He asked how much I want off!!! I said add a 10 on your side I will get mine. He said are you sure!!! By now I am thinking what a arrogant prick. I ripped out 10 reps and was up 10 pounds each more through 10-8-6 on my 3 sets. I was 170 he was 215lbs. We got done and were doing some BSing and he said look at that Airforce PUSS, as he points to a younger guy doing some squats. I them mentioned to him I was Air force. Then I saw his adams apple raise about 3 inches. I then said "Not all Airforce guys are weak and as I can see not all big Marines are STRONG". I gave him a grin and he said " I guess I deserve that".
My point is that you represent the man you are not the branch you join. The Marines are the best in the World at what they do, and thats combat! I dont judge all Marines but I have had plenty fall to my hands while sparring. Of course before the match they let me know they are Marines, to scare me! I allways told them after they were dropped. That I was in the Airforce. For some reason that was insulting to them, but ohh well!>
