Orginal Post: Dirty_Irishman: Does anyone have any experience or any really detailed info on this Vovinam style? I've read the caption here but I want like a lot of information, like schools, prinicples, etc.

Post: bamboo:

I had regular sparring sessions with a practitioner of said art. He was very quick and relied very much on "hit and run" tactics. I really did not get a grasp for what he was doing but it honestly looked like another version of wing chun with many low kicks.

Unfortunately, the man I practiced with was not a very good representative of his art...he would always go down from the same technique...irimi nage.

I wrote the outline of the style on this site. When I was researching it, I found that most of the decent info on the Net was on French sites, which makes sense as it seems that that is where the art is most popular. That said, I can't for the life of me find the sites I used.

Leave it with me.>

Well, they occupied vietnam for a good amount of time so I can see why.>

Post: Dirty_Irishman:

I think the Vietnamese let the Frenchies stay there out of pity..."Look at these white boys, the laughing stock of Europe, lets pretend to be conquered so they don't feel bad."

Hengest, you just don't do anything but learn new things and read do you? No offense of course, I use to do the same thing. Now I just train and work and train some more...maybe sleep occasionally.>

No that's pretty much it. Well that, drinking and smoking. :)

And you're probably right about the French and the Vietnamese. Says a lot about the Vietnamese nation. The rest of the world just pointed and laughed at the French, while the Vietnamese took pity on them. What a people!>

I'm trying to quit smoking, down to 0-6 cigarettes a day now...as opposed to 1-3 packs a day two weeks ago. Drinking... :( ...my wife won't let me.>

My bird's quite the drinker herself, which doesn't help me at all. In fact it only encourages me. Can't be outdrunk by a girl! :D>
