Orginal Post: Gazelle: I will be moving to either York, Leicester or Birmingham in September to go to university, and though i feel that few will be able to help me as most of what i have read seems to say that most of you are in America, i thought i'd ask anyway to see if anyone knows of anywhere good.
I am currently doing kick boxing, (I think Birmingham uni has one of those), but would be interested in doing any other martial arts which would involve sparring. Actually i think I'd quite like to try Ninjitsu. Plenty of gymnastics and weapons, i think would suit me well too! What do ou guys think, anyother suggestions?

I've been training in ninjutsu for a couple of years and I love it. There are so many branches to explore, especially when you get to the higher levels.
There's a Genbukan dojo in Leicester. I can't recommend it personally, but generally Genbukan teaching quality is very high.

I am from Birmingham and can only recommend one school although its not Ninjutsu. It is a blend of Warriors Escrima, Wing Chun and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. You will get all the sparring (with and without weapons of all sorts) you can handle there with some of the toughest ladies Ive ever seen! Excellent tuition and ego-free class with a real team mentality and I guarantee your condition will treble if you are serious.

Post: Gazelle:
Thanks. I'm sorry, i know 'MMA' has come up before, but i can't remember where, so i was wondering if you could tell me?>
Post: zefff:
MMA is Mixed Martial Arts. MMA is usually used to refer to the sport of No holds barred fighting in general. Usually a fashionable blend of BJJ and Muay Thai but it could be any arts that cover punching, kicking, wrestling and submissions. The MMA school at my gym is Muay Thai with something called Budokai.>

I might be going to Warwick university, i think that is now my first choice. Does anyone know any good clubs near there?>

Now I cannot in anyway vouch for this club, I can say that the founder (Chiba sensei) was known as one of the most combat effective aikidoka ever.

Post: Gazelle:
Thanks, i had seen that there were a lot on campus, but wasn't sure what they were like. I'll definately check it out.>

Google Bujinkan and look for something called winjutsu.com, its a yellowpage type listing for all bujinkan dojo's across the world. Though there may be other stuff. Bujinkan ninjutsu ties in with muay thai real well, for me anyway.>

Didn't realise you were a ninja angry. Doesn't that conflict with being a berserker? :D>
Post: zefff:
well he managed to avoid detection for 444 posts so he's doing something right!>
Post: Gazelle:
Bezerker certainly seems a bit more upfront than ninja, but, it is definately tactically better to have to different view points. I'll look it up, thanks.>
Post: angryrocker4:
Hell yeah, ninja's and berzerker's are the most badass people in history, so of course I'm both!>
Post: Gazelle:
Ahh, so that is how you describe yourself!>
Post: angryrocker4:
Actually I describe myself as a sexy biotch, who happens to enjoy raiding and burning down villages, and being sneaky sneaky.>
Post: Gazelle:
What, sneaky whilst burning down villages?>
Post: angryrocker4:
Of course! It's not like there's many of us berzerkers or let alone any vikings running around with which to raid in a cohesive unit of terror and destruction.>
Post: Gazelle:
I had the bizarest (well, maybe not the bizarrest) dream last night! Normally i wouldn't say anything, but it is relevant to this post. It was my first working day at university, and i went to one of the martial arts clubs with a friend wearing jeans and some kind of inappropriate top (that is, inappropriate for training), the fact that it was inappropriate did cross my mind, but i just kind of shrugged it off, i was slightly more bothered by the fact that i wasn't wearing a sports bra though. I apparently expected the class to be aikido, but when i got there it was more like some kind of kung fu (it was a female japanese or chinese instructor i think), then it appeared more like some weird Bujinkan ninjutsu, not that i'm entirely sure what it's like, but it was something similar to it if not.
Ummm, I wonder what one or two of things are tat has been playing on my mind...>
Post: angryrocker4:
If Sigmund Freud was here, he'd say your dream meant you have an attraction to me cause I'm a viking-ninja. 8) That or you just have weird dreams. 8O>
Post: Gazelle:
I think everyone has 'weird' dreams, they are so, i believe, because they reflect your thoughts and feelings (both conciously and subconciously) that are 'hanging over you' at the time, and i'm not sure that anybodys thoughts and feelings combined make too much sense, in fact, i don't think it is unusual for them to be contradictory.
I don't know who Sigmund Feud is, but, i don't think i ever mentioned anything about vikings in the description, though, i suppose you could say that the place where the university was located was sort of like a modern viking kind of town, but i'd be more inclined to describe it as a rather run down city, it's layout reminding me of something from China (like you see on the films), but with concrete, breeze blocks and electric lights. The instructors clothing actually changed at some point through the lesson, it began as this white loose top and trousers then as soon as the weapons came out her clothing changed, it was white and red, and i think she was wearing somethingon her head, with her stomach showing. This, though i don't remember what exactly went on then, marked the advent of some, lets say, peculiar form of training. There were other aspects of the dream which i have not mentioned, but i don't think (remember) viking ever encroached upon it. Anyway, my point is that, surely if the former were true, then there would have to be some kind of viking/ninja/rock event all related together at one go, and something else that could be conveyed as 'attraction'. Can you see any reference that could be considered so in that dream (or what i have told of it)?>
Post: angryrocker4:
Yep. :D>
Post: bamboo:
Yeah, Freud blamed everything on sex and parents.
You could dream about a peanut butter sandwich and freud would say its your subconscience yearning for your sister.>

I challenge you to explain.
Thanks bamboo.>
Post: angryrocker4:
Man, I must have hit close to target cause your takin it serious. 8)>
Post: Gazelle:
Sorry, you've got the wrong end of the stick. I was just teasing, and curious to see how you would respond to questioning. I promise, it takes a heck of a lot more than that to hit a nerve with me on pretty much every topic but one, and this teasing is far, far from that topic, i assure you.>
Post: angryrocker4:
No one likes me!>
Post: Gazelle:
It's not that i don't like you, mate, i'd have done the same to whoever was doing it.>
Post: angryrocker4:
aha! so you do like me! Old jedi mind trick that was!>
Post: Gazelle:
I said that it was not that i didn't like you, that does not neccesarily imply that i do, and that was a tactical trick. No, it was a tactical trick, but placed simply because i don't know you well enough to say either way, you seem alright from what i have read thus far though.>
Post: angryrocker4:
You're fun to mess with, you know that?>
Post: Gazelle:
Well, i like messing around with words (i suppose it is almost bantering), i guess it's still a bit of a novelty. Also, I'm glad i can be of some amusement.>
Post: Tapout95:
Jeez, get a room you two...>
Post: Gazelle:
No thank you, i think i'll stick to the forum! Why the heck do you say that anyway? People normally have some fun with me, so i just thought i'd have a tease back as well for once.>

Gazelle is a lady, so I will translate

" Hey, Piss off, I'm aloud to have fun on the forum like all the jackassed half wits. Everyone teases me to no end and the minute I do the same, its "get a room"? Stop annoying me and go play with yourself."
This is of course is only a joke....Was I close Gazelle?
lol

[quote=bamboo "...go play with yourself."[/quote
Way ahead of you lot there >
Post: Gazelle:
Surprisingly, bamboo. It wasn't quite so brutal as that, even in my head, but yes, apart from the last sentence, that would be replaced by something like, 'if you can't stand me teasing you, then don't tease me' (I know angry, you were fine with it, just to get that clear so as to save a few posts).>
Post: Tapout95:
I was referring more to the back and forth nature of teasing between Gazelle and AngryRocker, not Gazelle in particular. I wasn't trying to single you out. But hey, its not like theres anything wrong with "getting a room." I'm sure AngryRocker would be okay with it. He could show you his berzerker techniques more in full.
Bamboo, i think i'll take your advice. Me and Handgela might just go spend a few quality minutes with each other.>
Post: Gazelle:
It's called having fun!>
Post: Tapout95:
Actually, where i'm from, its called "wacking willy wonka back into wonderland." >
Post: Gazelle:
Did you just make that up?>
Post: kranker66:
Here's a good BJJ & MT training facility-nothing fancy, but you'll work hard.
-'Brazillian Jui-Jitsu-Claudio Franca'
BJJ & Muay Thai Kickboxing; located in Santa Cruz, California
ph# (831) 476-7650
-I took MT here and Mike, our instructor was first rate.
There's large amount of students who take BJJ, some do both BJJ & MT
...anyway, it's a school I'd recommend.
Cheers :D [/b >
Post: Gazelle:
Thanks, but California is a little further than i was planning on travelling. I don't think flying accross the atlantic for every session would be too practical. :D>

...If Sir Richard Branson can do it, then....>

I think i'd rather spend the time on physics and mathematics, thank you!>
