Orginal Post: TKDman: Does anybody know about this style or its creator Dr. Christian Harfouche? It seems like every martial arts magazine I open has his picture and style in it. The different types of chin na that he also seems to advertise look interesting and he seems pretty qualified:
"*10th degree blk blt in David German's TAI martial arts(questionable)
*5th degree blk blt in Tae Kwon Do
*4th degree blk blt in Kenpo
*2nd degree blk blt in Kyokushin
*1st degree blk blt in budo jiu-jitsu
*blk blt level in white-tiger
*blk blt level in white-eyebrow
*Inside Kung-Fu 2004*"
but I don't like that you can "earn your black belt...through the VHS/DVD instititue." Anyone know about his shorite ryu tai jutsu style?

I would definately say he looks pretty qualified.>

I have no proof, but I personally think this guy is faker than a big bag of fake things. For a start, he's presenting his system in a very koryu jujutsu vein (the name for a start) yet, on his resume, there is not one legitimate school of jujutsu on there.
Secondly, I tend not to believe resumes that have more than one grade above 5th dan on them. It would take a serious amount of training to get one grade above 5th dan in a real system, let alone two.
Thirdly, like you say TKDman, you can get a black belt from him by buying his DVDs. What a bunch of arse! That just screams McDojo to me.>

Kinda goes to show what a black belt has become worth nowadays. No longer something worth blood, sweat and tears. It's now something to wear why you lay in your lazy-boy and *watch* someone else!>

Hengest you make some very good points. IF you really broke it down to become that profficient in that many MA's would take an extraordinary amount of time. Half of those are probably self proclaimed from books and videos.>

Definately McDojo!.
My teacher told me that when he practiced ninjitsu he heard that when Ninjitsu went worldwide the grandmaster didnt have many students above 2nd Dan so he just called them 8th Dan and such high ranks for the sole purpose of attracting students worldwide, and he later made a change where the max Dan would be 15 just so his instructors would have levels to advance to cause he alredy "reRanked" them to very high ranks.>

I vote McDojo. He wants your money. I too do not see one legitimate school of Koryu Jujutsu. Anyone, I mean anyone that says you can get a Black Belt through correspondence is a FRAUD.>
