Try out both the BJJ and the SCJJ. How much is it and can you do both jiujitsu types for one price?
good luck,

Well I am not fun of Small Circle Jujitsu, Danzan-Ryu, Kodenkan, and other similar developed arts. First one for all its not Jujitsu its Jujutsu. Jujutsu have its history, if guys on escja.com doesnt know nothing about it doesnt mean that it is ?unclear?, at least not unclear as they put it. I personally dont like it and I would never go there, but it doesnt mean that they and their techniques are not good. So if you like it, go there and see it from inside. Good luck!>
Post: BLACK PANTA:
so small circle Ju Jitsu is basically a fusion style? What is it's focus? Is it more throwing, joint manipulation, pinning, or ground grappling. Is it similar to Aikido?>

The Danzan stuff and guys I've seen were all solid.
I have no real experience with SSJJ a la wally jay so cannot comment.>

<Ahem, hem> Let me clear my throat before I start. I studied what was officially called Kodenkan Danzan Ryu under Sensei Ernie Boggs for pretty much all of my martial arts experience from age 12 till now. Sensei learned from John Cahill and to a larger degree under Wally Jay. Ernie and Prof. Jay have held many seminars together, and I have actually had the pleasure of recieving a te-nage from prof. Jay right here in good 'ol WV back in '97.
Kodenkan Danzan Ryu and Prof. Jay's small circle could both be said to be "fusion" arts, and very distinct from either japanese jujutsu or brazilian jiujitsu. Kodenkan is very heavy on self defense techniques, and places an equal distribution on the importance of atemi waza, ne waza, ukemi waza, and nage waza.
Prof. Jay was a student of Henry Okazaki and refined his understanding of Kodenkan Danzan Ryu to create Small Circle Jujutsu. The basic theory behind Small Circle could be said to be the exact opposite of the aim of Aikido (here ya go Bamboo  ) i.e. Prof Jay believed that when performing a lock, constant pain (without causing breakage) should be applied to the joint in order to lead your opponent to where you want him to go. This idea leads to the "lock flow" where you use the momentum generated by someone trying to escape the pain reflex to "flow" into a different, and more controlled or advantageous lock. The other aspect of Small Circle is just as the name implies, all of your circular movements in applying a lock or choke should be as small and compact as possible, and this allows for the maximum pain described above, with a minimum of effort.

The classes that I were in before had SSJJ incorporated into it. My instructor had been taught by Prof. Jay as well. Small Circle Jujitsu focuses on joint manipulation, specifically the smaller joints though. I haven't studied Aikido but I would imagine that it's very similar (the manipulation of joints as well as the use of your opponents energy)>
