Orginal Post: MA dude: I have both a wrestling and an mini martial arts tournament between friends coming up and I wanted to know if anyone can suggest a good routine. Right now I have been experimenting with different types of workouts but I have not found a routine to stick too yet. Any advice will be appreciated.

The bodyweight stuff (specifically the stuff in the Naked Warrior, but probably the rest too) works really quickly. You'll get noticeably stronger after about a week usually. Also, at T-nation (I think) there's an article by the U.S. Men's Gymnastics Team's fitness coach that preaches a very similar philosophy, although I haven't tried it for very long so I don't know if the exercises are as effective.>

HIigh Intensity Interval Training. You gotta do it. If you do I promise your gas tank will not let you down.>

What are some good anaerobic workouts people would suggest? Currnetly I do an excercise in which I punch a heavy bag with real straight punches for a minute going all out. I then rest fo 30 seconds and then I repeat two more times along with other more basic ones.>

boy I dunno there is so much, but for totally body fuckup I love my burpee based exercises right now. We do loads of variations adding in so many exercises its ridiculous!
We mix it up a lot but yesterday we worked up to doing burpees with pressup, push back to squat, jump up knees to chest, pike jump and hand stand. It sounds gay but the handstands and the pike jumps really mess you up.
Its funny because the burpees went crazy after we discussed it in a thread on here and I went back and suggested some variations to the group. Now everyone is always coming up with new ways to destroy each other with new burpee set variations.
You can do Interval training with almost anything but burpee based exercises just seem to hit each body part equally. I luv em!>

It's hard to balance weight training, and cardio such as the heavy bag, and i was wondering if someone would be able to tell me a good time to switch from one to the other.>
