Orginal Post: Michael M.: I figure I should post my question on here. Are wrist weights good to use? I thought about using them but then thought about disadvantages, one of them being possible joint problems.

You may want to try weighted gloves instead....most are adujstable and I know that title boxing makes some very comfertable ones.>

Ah, okay. Thank you.>

IMO...wrist weights are ok to use as long as its not for long periods of time. But the weighted gloves are also a good way to go.>
Post: Michael M.:
Thanks. If I do get something like that, it'll be the gloves.>

Wrist-weights & weighted gloves are fine for low impact, high repetition training but should not be used for full force execution of percussive techniques into mid-air as the momemtum that they would create could cause overextension of the ligaments & tendons around the wrist, elbow & shoulder joints, leading to tearing injuries that would take a long time to heal. Similar effects would be felt where ankle weights are used when kicking full force into mid-air. These effects would be minimized if the techniques were executed into a heavy punch/kick bag.>

If you're trying to strengthen the wrists, I recommend wrist pushups. Difficult, and a tad dangerous if done improperly (lacking off, improper balance, etc...) It would be embarrassing to noob yourself doing pushups >

Dude, the original poster probably died of old age by now.
Wrist weights wont strengthen wrists anyway. Makiwara, rope, sand, gravel and ball bearing bag are better for that...unless you are doing some kind of freakish wrist flick/extension at the top of the press?>
