Orginal Post: topher: I used to be a thai boxer until I hurt my knee and decided to take a few months off. A few months now has become almost a year. I decided to get ready to go back in and need some help because I want to get in shape first. I'm 6'2 and 180lbs and usually take in about 1800 calories a day. So somebody help me make some changes in my diet and let me know what kind of work I should be doing. My school has a gym so I have access to a lot of basic equipment.

definitely increase your caloric intake...and i suggest swimming...i thought i was in top shape cuz i could run 2 miles in 10:50...i could barely swim 4 laps and i felt more tired after that than spending about an hour to an hour and a half in the gym...so i highly recommend swimming...cardio and good strength>
Post: opariser1001:
get a weight training program going (won't go into the details of that...there are other more knowledgable people on the forum in that field)
either swim....
or i would say alternate running with sprinting and that should be real good for getting in shape. or burpees...those are good too. check out rossboxing.com for info on those.>

Yeah swimming is a damn good full body workout especially if you do some laps underwater sounds kinda stupid but the more you hold your breath the more your lung capacity increases and this can also help to improve overall fitness.>
