Orginal Post: BLACK PANTA: at least it did for me. I went from 189lbs to 155lbs. It's just as simple as eating properly and exercise. I cut out simple carbs, (bread, rice, candy bars) and started getting in MAAD protien and veggies (mostly dark green veggies). I took a bit from the Atkins, South beach (lean protien, basically the main difference from atkins),the French Women dont get fat diet and eating the way of the Sunnah (the way the prophet of Islam (pbuh) and his followers did. 5 small meals/day. I do get my carbs in mind you in the morning, but I load up with protien aswell. You can't kid yourself either, you gotta have a cheat day. One day a week I will endulge, but not over do, snack food. Really and truly I dont crave sweets and carbs as much anymore. Even on my cheat day I feel guilty. I have a meal plan I came up with if anyone's interested. I have one for myself but the one I've put to paper, I've tried to make it as universal as possible. There are slight modification that have to be made for females. They need to get in more calcium than us men.
A few big tips,
Green tea. When you feel like snacking drink green tea
drink lots of water per day. I say at LEAST 2 litres
If you feel hungry after you've eaten it more than likely you are dehydragted. Drink more water
Unsalted, dry roasted peanuts/almonds (a fistful is a serving) is great for snacking.
Stay away from milk, we are the only animals that drink milk past infancy, not to mention the only animals that drink the milk of another. Ever wonder why 40% (or so) of people are Lactose intollerant

Congrats on the weight loss. I too have lost weight since starting back to the gym. In 2 months I went from 185 to 175. But I haven't done jack shite to my diet. I'm not disciplined enough.>

Sorry for the late reply, i didn't notice. Here is one of a few meal plans I've made
Breakfast:
Glass of Real orange juice (not the frozen stuff)
Two hard boiled eggs (yolks and all)
Slice of Cheese (cheddar) about 1/2 and inch thick.
Carrot sticks or Celery (about half a carrot or celery) OR
1 Serving of Fruit
2nd meal about 2-3 hours later:
250mls of green tea unsweetened(you can also drink water along with the tea)
250mls of Cottage cheese or Yogurt unsweetened if you can (or plain yogurt sweetened with Honey)
Again Carrot sticks or Celery (about half a carrot of celery) You can have other veggies but keep them about the same amount
*OR one serving of Fruit (one Banana.)
3rd Meal about 2-3 hours later:
Preferably 250mls of Real Juice or Soy Milk (however only occasion)
Boiled or Grilled piece of Chicken breast (about the size the palm or YOUR hand) lightly seasoned
Carrot Sticks or sliced fruit
A whole Banana, and Apple
4th Meal about 2-3 hours later
250mls of green tea unsweetened (you can also drink water along with the tea)
250mls of cottage cheese or yogurt un sweetened if you can (or plain yogurt sweetened with Honey)
Boiled or Grilled piece of Chicken breast (about the size the palm or YOUR hand) lightly seasoned
* Again Carrot sticks or sliced fruit
Slice of Cheese (cheddar) about 1 inch thick.
5th Meal 2-3 hours later (this is you last meal and last thing you eat for the day)
Preferably 250mls of Soy milk (but regular low fat milk is okay)
Boiled or Grilled piece of Chicken breast (about the size the palm or YOUR hand) lightly seasoned
Slice of Cheese (cheddar) about 1 inch thick.
* Again Carrot sticks or boiled potato
1 Slice of Canteloupe or Pineapple.
*Veggies can be raw or boiled, no added butter or salt.
** You can substitute Yogurt/Cottage Cheese with a handful of UNSALTED/UNSPICED Peanuts, once in a while.
Do this meal plan for 6 days a week. On the 7th (choose wisely the 7th) you can eat what ever you want, but don't go overboard. (for example) If you want doubles, have half instead of a whole one>
Post: BLACK PANTA:
For salads, instead of using lettuce and cream dressings, use Spinach and vinagrette dressings.
Glacknore, coffee is something to avoid, not for losing weight, but for toxicity. With that meal plan and some of the other advice (such as eating dark green veggies) you'll find it'll detoxify your body aswell. In that meal plan i didn't include any carbs for the morning, you should include carbs. One slice of Dark Rye or Pumpernickle toast can be added. Try not to take in too much fat in the morning. The Rye and pumpernickle are slow burning carbs so you'll have more and better energy from that than fats (i.e. margerine, butter etc etc.) If you love milk substitue it with Soy milk. But keep in mind Soy reduces Testosterone. Most of the orient has a soy based diet...i.e Soy sauce, Tofu, etc etc. that's mainly why most orinetals have less body hair for example. But small amounts won't be that bad for you.>
Post: BLACK PANTA:
Oh and I forgot for the eggs. You can also try 4 eggs, 3 whites only and one whole egg. Or 4 eggss, whites only no yellow. Ommelette that thang>
Post: Galaknore:
Hey thanks a bunch for your reply. Thats exactly what I was looking for.>

BP, you tell people to avoid milk, then you go tell them to eat cheese and yoghurt. lol. Would you mind explaining?:)
As you may remember i'm veggie (stick with this, there is a relevant point), i tried going all the way vegan for a week, but, my body didn't like it all that much, even though before the only dairy i was eating was milk and the odd yoghurt (i switched to soya milk), but my body still didn't like it. I find that i my body needs it...maybe if i ate meat/fish then it would be different, but at the moment that's how it is, and so, though we may be the only creatures who have milk into adulthood, if it's bad for me, then my body would surely not be asking for it (it's not craving it all the time)?
I've started eating more yoghurts now, and, i eat way too many nuts (really need to find something else to eat, i know there's pulses, but i rarely do them, minus having a tin of broad beans in (I love eating them from the tin!) because they take so long)...i don't think my body was getting enough protein, and, i've been finding more so (well, i think it's more i'm noticing it more) that the smell of meat and fish is rather appealing (well, within reason:)). I might try to get some Quorn when i go shopping later again, just for another option, doesn't take any longer than vegetables.>

The reason I suggest yogurt and cheese, is becuase you still need to get calcium in your diet. And Cheese is a great source of protien, and as a snack. Also this diet plan is an example, you can fully well get calcium and protien from different avenues. Keep in mind, a yogurt has acitve bacteria to aid in digesting it (especially pro biotic yogurt) and the amount of cheese you take in is no where close to the amount of milk consumption.
Your body can also lead you astray. A smoker's body tells him he needs nicotine, a heroine addict's body tells him he need heroine. Caffene, i could go on. Just because YOU THINK your body is craving something doesn't mean your body's right.
At work so had to keep it brief.>

i know, but, when i tried being vegan, although, i can't say my body was actually craving milk, it was not satisfied by any amount with what it was getting, and it gave me an upset stomach...of course, that could be a result of the soya, i suppose...>

If you want to stop drinking milk, like an infant, you have to wein youself off. Dont just go cold turkey. Water down your milk 2parts milk, 1 part water. Then slowly water it down some more. then you can mix 1 part milk, 2 parts soy milk. Eventually going to only soy. As a female, you should really look into getting more soy in your diet. It lowers testosterone levels, great source of calcium and protien. Boys keep that in mind. You can suppliment soy milk with rice, coconut or almond milk.>

LOL the nutritionist...I just research alot on the topic. Plus my wife (I cant mention this enuf) is a student of TCM, so I learn from her aswell.
Soy milk and tofu doesn't go through as much of a process to make than milk. If you research how milk is made drinkable, you will see how much it's "refined" There are actually recipes online to make your own Soy, almond and coconut milk.
Also look up the process to refine White Bread. I'm not saying any of it is disgusting, or gross, it's just a lot of refinement. Also the bleach used for rice/wheat (bread) is not good for the stomache. The best grains to eat (If you want to that is) are whole/brown grain. That's why I reccomended that your morning carb intake be pumpernickle/dark rye bread. Man i can ramble when it comes to this. I love discussing it>
Post: Gazelle:
lol. I'm not complaining.:)
Yes, i don't eat white bread anyhow, any, i don't generally eat much bread. I have a fair bit of rice...at home i'd normally cook brown, but, it's a bit inconvenient to do it at uni as it takes forever to cook and your stood in the kitchen the whole time, unless someone's around, then you can natter the time away...i suppose could try soaking it first...
Do people have almond milk, like on cereal, or is it used for something else? I think i've only ever heard of it once in passing before now.>

yeah brown rice can take a while, but soaking is a good idea.
You can use almond milk in almost any way you use regular milk. I use it as a source of protien for my protien shakes.>

Since you didn't know about this, maybe i will take the opportunity to mention a little thing about almonds, just on the offshot you weren't aware. They contain cianide, and, not as part of a complound (like that it can be found in any product of B12). I don't know what this is like in the milk, but, i know that there have been question marks as to whether consuming a reasonable number of almonds themselves does not contain health effects.>

I've lost all faith in nutritionists telling us what's healthy and what's not. Every other article I read contradicts the one before it. I just eat whatever it takes to fill me up and try to burn it off through exercise and catabolism.
I attended this assembly at school where the speaker was speaking out against the dairy industry because milk was supposedly unhealthy. His main arguements against milk were that the dairy industry uses *GASP* advertising to reach the public! Oh no, not free enterprise. Perhaps he'd like Big Brother to regulate what everyone can and can't advertise? OH, and by far my favorite contradiction of the entire presentation... He started off with this lovely bit of enlightenment: "Most of the support for the dairy industry comes from doctors. What do doctors know about nutrition? NOTHING! That's not what they're taught in medical school." (This was the point where I wanted to walk out but decided to stay and see what happens next.) Later in the presentation, all of his bloody support that holds any kind of credibility comes from, you guessed it, doctors. HMMMMM. The funniest of all of his arguements had to be the ad hominem attacks he used on every single being having once been affiliated with milk. "Mark McGuire drinks milk. Wait, didn't he use steroids? Britney Spears does too... wait. What exactly does she know about staying healthy? (The next one has to be my favorite ad hominem attack of all time because I really didn't think anyone would stoop this low.) Milk comes from cows. Cows produce methane. They're helping cause global warming."
Here's the best part of the entire presentation. The speaker graduated from my high school not even a full year ago, and he's gained this vast array of anti-milk knowledge over the course of time it takes to read one book that, as he so movingly put it, "changed his life." He's one year ahead of me education-wise.
If this guy decides to give another speech anytime soon, I'm going to track down and invite Lewis Black to attend. Meanwhile, I'll continue to enjoy all the dairy products I was raised with and still love. Sorry if I went a little off-topic.>
Post: Gazelle:
I know what you mean about the nutrition research. I keep my ears open, but, i don't follow everything they say, i try to use my own brain, based on my experience and what i've heard. I eat a tonne of fruit and veg, try to get my protein in, am feeling guilty about having dairy sometimes, so, i might start reducing that, and seeing if i can get everything from other places...i know calcium wise greens have a lot in them (I love fresh spinach), and, i figure you must be able to get the protein you need from pulses, nuts etc., but have to thing of a way to integrate it into my diet...and, i shan'e be going 'cold turkey' again.>

I didnt change my diet at all, just ate less than i was. for example, instead of eating 2 hot pockets i ate 1 and if i was still hungry i ate a small fruit cup. as far as exercise i started walking more. if i needed to go somewhere that was less than 2 miles away i walked with 1 8-10 mile walk a week. i also did basic cardio, what we all did in grade school gym, sit-ups, push-ups, jumping jacks etc. im not cut by any means but the weight is coming off.>

I dont know man, they just do. Women are more prone to developing osteoperosis. I get the feeling, and please correct me if I'm wrong, but it looks like you're asking questions just for the sake of asking question. *mind you I am in a bad mood rite now.*>

I'm actually curious.
I just searched for something, but, i think the only thing i found was that women start off with less bone tissue and loose it more quickly, hence they are more prone to osteoporosis. But, i could deduce that at any rate...maybe i'm just asking one 'why' too many...easy to do.>
