Orginal Post: kranker66: -It really surprises me how many over weight people don't know how to go about losing there weight. And then counselors try and make them feel good about it.
I saw a 20/20 excerpt from a show about kids at a fat camp. I feel for these kids, I do because nothings gotta feel worse than going through your teen years over-weight and obese and being laughed at.
I couldn't beleive I saw a heavy kid working on a latt maching and then a crunch bench.
If those counselors knew what the heck there doing that young man would of been doing cardio, and sweating it off.
And to know surprise he didn't lose any weight. And his family is out a bunch of money too. The show was not so much that people were getting 'jipped' at these camps- it's just my take on it. It was about getting parents involved and whose responsible for the child's obesity- stuff like that. The old blame game I guess...
any thoughts?

Yeah I think cardio would be a good idea, I have been told not to to cardio becuase at the moment I am already deathly skinny, but it does sound like a good Idea for over weight people.>

Diet habits begin at a very young age, and yes it is the parents fault if their child turns out obese. Parents allow their kids to carry around a cereal box like a blanket, with the rest of their diet being pastas and breads. Then they get older and they can't figure out why their kids won't eat fruits or vegetables, or drink enough water. They don't force them to eat healthy because they won't like the taste, but as nutritionists say "if a child is hungry they'll eat it, they won't starve." Most adults that won't eat a lot of vegetables or fruits didn't eat them as a child. Part of me feels sorry for them because it isn't entirely their fault, but I don't have too much sympathy when it is your choice to make a difference or not. Many obese people that I see don't have the will power to eat healthy and exercise, they want a quick fix. It's up to the individual to want to change, and when I see that determination then I try to do everything I can to help them achieve their goal.>

I totally agree with you. with the exception of a small percentage of obese people, most have the power in their hands to remedy their situation. With the proper diet and regular exercise routine you can lose weight and become fit remarkably fast. I always get pissed when i hear of people on all of these stupid diet programs, all of that is unnecessary if you just have the will power to do something about it.
And as for that fat camp thing. I do blame the parents for that. not only are they sittin back and letting their kids become obesse by allowing them to eat anything they want, but they have the nerve to send them to some camp instead of taking action and helping their child. I say they deserve to get ripped off for being stupid  .>

...I couldn't agree with your quote more. This week it's the Adkins diet, next week it's something else. If people would just stop being so lazy, get off their butts, and do some walking or something they'd start to lose some weight.
...look at Jared from 'Subway'.
See ya.>
