British Weightlifting and London South East Weightlifting held their 2012 Open Weightlifting Championship on 1st December 2012 at the Crystal Palace National Sports Centre, Crystal Palace, London. Lifters came from Malta, Ireland, Wales and England to compete on what turned out to be a great crowd pleasing day, featuring some superb lifts. Top scorers for the women were Shila Panjavi, with Sinclair score of 174.78 in her class, Jo Calvino with Sinclair of 214.41 in her class. Emily Godley won her class with a Sinclair score of 224.80, and Sinead Ryan hers with 175.83. Mercy Brown had a fantastically successful appearance, winning a new British under 17s record with a 87kg clean and jerk. The men category saw some superb lifters. Mehmed Fikretov won his group with an eye watering Sinclair total of 367.9. Adam Matiussi hefted ahead with his sinclair score of 347.4 in his class. Ending up with 331.5, Cathyl Bird topped out his class group, whilst Jake Davies proved himself a winner with his score of 304.9 in his class. Heavy lifter Damon Samadi had an impressive end to his day, with a highest lift of 150kg.
