This clip is a compilation of some of the many Tanglang free-fighting focused drills worked on at the Fifth International Mantis Boxing Seminar, hosted in the forest of Urle by Shifu Slawomir Milczarek of the Polish Praying Mantis Kungfu Society. Along with myself and the Polish family, the camp was attended by a large contingent from the Finnish Praying Mantis Kungfu Society. For most of those present, all drills were new and unfamiliar but everyone gave 100% and greatly impressed with their toughness and dedication. The majority of the drills shown are for developing skill at the basic and intermediate level (chuji and zhongji sanda) , with some advanced level free-fighting (gaoji sanda) method addressed, including the use of elbows. This kind of sanda is distinct from sports sanda and is trained for self defence as opposed to competition. Eternal thanks to Slawomir Milczarek for hosting me again. Note: In many instances throughout this clip fighters stand toe-to-toe, with very little, and in some cases no footwork at all. In those particular drills, both opponents are prevented from stepping in order to develop defences and evasive body method. The other drills have comparative restrictions.
