Here is the most basic Knee on Belly escape. It focuses on good hip movement (shrimping), bellying down and of course driving forward into your opponent to get the take down. It does not matter if your opponent is standing or on his knees you should be able to finish in the dominate position. A couple of things to keep in mind. I describe the motion at the beginning of the video as a "pushing on the knee". This is both correct and incorrect. Keep in mind that you are almost never going to be able to push your opponent off of you using your hands. This HAS TO BE a combined effort of your arms and your hips moving. I go on to describe the movement as your arms chalking the knee so that your opponent cannot recover the space you have made with your hips (I think this is a much more accurate description of what your arms are actually doing). Also remember to keep your elbow tightly placed against your sides until the last possible second (when you go belly down they will be extended). If you allow your arms to extend prematurely then you will be susceptible to armbars. The shrimping to bellying down to driving should all be one seamless motion. If you rest in the belly down position your opponent is going to take your back, then you're going to cuss me out and say my moves to work. Remember if you want to "rest" do it while you have back control on them. Turtle is not a resting position (although as a fat boy I did use it as such sometimes...DONT DO IT, it didnt work for me ... knee on stomach escape Grappling and Jiu-Jitsu Fighting Techniques
