In this video I show a very simple yet very effective guard pass the Slam and Go. This plays as a variation of the Bull Fighter Pass. One of the most powerful things you can do while looking to pass the open guard is to control both pant legs and that is the bases for this pass. Take control of the pants on the inside of the of your opponents knees and step back. As you step back you need to slam your opponents legs to the floor and start to turn the corner. A couple of things that you need to pay attention to include the hip placement and the bending of your knees rather than at your waist. At the beginning of the pass it is important that you use your hips to fight off your opponents hooks. Maintain good posture and use your legs to get the depth vertically that you need. Once you have the grips and you step back it is VERY important that you put all of your weight on your opponents legs. Once you have the weight distributed correctly it is important to lower your whole body and lead with your head. DO NOT let your head go off to either side of your opponents torso, make sure it stays plastered in the middle of his/her chest. Your head should support enough of your weight that it is uncomfortable for your opponent but not so much weight that they can easily run under your body and sweep you over (a common defense for this pass). It takes some getting used to in order to do effectively, try it out and see what you think. grappling open guard
